Everton have announced the appointment of former Burnley boss Sean Dyche as their new manager after the departure of Frank Lampard from the role last week.

The Everton board decided to sack former manager Frank Lampard after a very poor run of form which left his side off the foot of the Premier League table by goal difference and knocked out of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup respectively.

Lampard spent almost a year at Goodison Park before departing the club, becoming somewhat of a hero after helping the toffees survive relegation at the end of last season. However, some of his team’s displays this season were rightly deemed unacceptable.

Names such as Marcelo Bielsa and Carlos Corberan were thrown into the hat for the vacant manager role at EFC, but the club have finally come to a decision after a week of fearce deliberation.

Everton have, today, confirmed the appointment if Sean Dyche as their new manager on a 2-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2025.

Dyche started his managerial career at Watford in the Championship before taking up the role as manager of Burnley.

The 51-year-old would spend almost a decade at Burnley, even helping them to a place in the Europa League in 2017 before being knocked out by Olympiacos in the final qualifying round.

He was sacked by Burnley in April of last year and has subsequently been replaced by Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany.

It will likely be an extremely challenging tenure for Dyche at Everton, with the club seemingly on a downward trajectory in recent years. But now his focus must be on bringing in the right players in what is left of the January transfer window to give his side the best chance possible of staying in the league.
