After losing Richardson in the summer, the question was always going to be. How do we replace such an important player? Well, we replaced him with two attackers in the end, but one question still remains.  Are Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay suitable replacements?

One player that Everton watched throughout the summer was Villarreal attacker, Nicolas Jackson and it has been reported by SkySports correspondent Pete O’Rourke and today Ekrem Konur has said on Twitter, that Newcastle have joined the race for the 21-year-old.

The 21-year-old Senegalese attacker was called up to the national side in the recent international break but was an unused sub as Senegal beat Bolivia 2-0 and drew 1-1 with Iran. After breaking into the first team last season, Jackson has made 6 appearances in the league so far this season, getting a goal and an assist as Villarreal sit sixth in the league.

Jackson who is in the final year of his contract could be tempted by the prospect of moving the Premier League next summer, and with a host of clubs after his signature, it will be interesting to see how this one pans out.
