Everton academy trio set for first team action

|

Everton academy trio Tom Cannon, Stanley Mills and Isaac Price are all set to be involved with the first team for their boxing day fixture against Wolves after being left out of the under-23 squad.

Cannon, Mills and Price are all regulars in Paul Tait’s under-23 side and have been stand-out performers in the side all season.

However, all 3 were left out of the blues squad that travelled down to Essex to face Colchester in the Premier League Cup yesterday which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The trio are now expected to be part of Frank Lampard’s first-team squad to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park on boxing day.

Isaac Price was the first of the 3 to make his debut, coming on as a late substitute in the toffee’s 5-1 loss to Arsenal at the end of last season. Since then, he has made 3 more appearances as well as being a stand-out performer in both matches during Everton’s mid-season tour in Sydney.

Stanley Mills and Tom Cannon are having the season of their lives for the under-23 side, contributing to 21 goals combined so far in all competitions.

With Salomon Rondon leaving the club earlier this week and the likes of Tom Davies still missing through injury, this could be the perfect chance for some of the academy players to show their worth.
