“Embarrassing all of us” – These Everton fans react to Silva’s Merseyside Derby team news

|

A few Everton fans have been reacting on social media after Marco Silva gave an injury update on the Toffees first-team, ahead of facing Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby.

Silva will lead the Blues into Anfield just two points above the relegation places, after succumbing to our eighth Premier League defeat of the season last time out when beaten 2-1 away to the high-flying Leicester City.

The Foxes are currently the closest challengers to Liverpool in the race for the top-flight crown, with their win at the weekend placing them second in the standings eight-points down on Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

Southampton beating fellow relegation-threatened side Watford at the weekend means the Saints could move above us should they triumph at home to 19th-placed Norwich City on Wednesday night, and we fail to take a point at Liverpool.

Silva has confirmed that he will be without Fabian Delph for the Merseyside Derby, though, as the £10million summer signing from Manchester City has not yet returned to training with the first-team.

Delph has been on the sidelines since we drew 1-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur at the start of November, as he has been nursing a hamstring injury which prevented him from representing England in their final Euro 2020 qualifiers last month.

Silva will also be without Seamus Coleman for our trip to Anfield, with the Republic of Ireland captain back in training but not in a position where he can play.

Should Walcott feature vs Liverpool?

Yes, start him

On the bench

No, not at all

Theo Walcott, however, has been deemed fit to face Liverpool having sat out the Leicester loss last weekend.

Here are some of the reactions offered to Silva’s Merseyside Derby team news update, shared during his pre-game press conference on Tuesday…

In other Everton news, a prominent pundit has tipped Silva to make changes to his tactics when we travel to face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.
