Leighton Baines has said that Everton are now ready to ‘push on’ up the table following victory over Brighton at the weekend and Cenk Tosun has spoken of how he feels he will show even more improvement as the season comes to a close given the service he’s getting from our wide players.
Having taken a two nil victory at Goodison Park on Saturday, Baines told the Official Site in his own post game interviews that he felt everyone in the camp was ready to ‘push on’ up the table now and really end the campaign on a high.
Obviously that means improvement in our away form though.
‘We dominated the first 45 minutes and the goal didn`t come. But we knew if we kept playing the way were that eventually we`d get a break and we did. We knew it was a big game. The three points is massive and gives us the opportunity to push on and look ahead of us instead of behind us.’
Tosun and Yannick Bolasie came in for particular praise given their showings and Tosun of course made it two goals in two games as he continues adjusting to life at the club.
‘He`s up and running and it`s great to see. His performance was great as well. He made things stick and I thought his all-round game deserved a goal.’
He ended by saying, ‘We`re a big club and didn`t expect to be in the position that we are in. But we`ve still got quite a few games left until the end of the season. The gap isn`t too big between us and the teams above us and we`ll look to close that as the season goes on.’
