Many Everton fans have taken to social media in response to reports that Idrissa Gana Gueye will not be leaving Merseyside this month, but not everyone is convinced.
The Toffees have been forced to rebuff numerous approaches by Paris Saint-Germain for their influential midfielder in the January window, as the Ligue 1 giants are looking to address the crisis they could suffer without Adrien Rabiot on the books once his contract lapses in the summer.
Sky Sports News had suggested in the build-up to Deadline Day that the Parisian outfit would return with a fresh offer after their £21.5million bid was knocked back almost instantly.
The Toffees, however, have stood firm throughout January, stating that the 29-year-old was not, and is not, for sale unless a sizable offer – said to be in the region of £40million – comes in.
Sky Sports were proved right on the final day of the winter market, with The Independent suggesting PSG returned with a £26million approach in a last-ditch effort to complete Gueye’s dream of playing in the French capital.
The bid was rejected, though, with the Liverpool Echo claiming that Everton are digging their heels in and will reject any fresh approach made in the final hours.
While some fans are happy with the news, not every Blues fan is convinced that keeping the want-away star is best…
Dunno if its the best idea to keep a player who really wants to keep the club…If he stays in Everton, hopes his mind wont be in paris…

Yes I can understand if he wants to move to PSG but he must understand that he has got to be worth more then what they have supposedly offered

Can only think this means Gueye is staying. If this is true like.

Are Everton adamant Gueye is not for sale? Or are we just hard-balling for more money?

Why keep a player who obviously doesn’t want to play for us anymore and will be unhappy!!!!
— Todd lonsdale (@toddlonsdale) January 31, 2019
It’s a slippery slope keeping players that want a move, most of the time anyway.

If he wants to go, why didn’t we agree weeks ago and use the cash for a striker? Can’t see the logic here!

If he doesn’t want to be here then let him go. I’d take 30 million for a limited 29 year old. Give Benni a go . .
