Everton have entered the international break in good form after securing a superb goalless draw away at Chelsea.
The lull of domestic football has turned the attention of some fans elsewhere though and social media has been awash with criticism this week directed to the Premier League.
It has been revealed that outgoing chief executive Richard Scudamore will receive a £5m bonus payment as a ‘gift’ upon his departure, which is made up of £250k from every Premier League side – leaving some fans furious.
Everton supporters are not the only football fans to be left furious by the news after it was confirmed that the payment would go ahead despite strong criticism and many were swift to identify how the money could have been better utilised.
It is clear that £250k could have gone to much better causes and some fans have made that clear with their responses. We have gathered some of these below.
Disappointed in @Everton regarding this. The man who has been picking up a multi-million pound a year salary for 19 years wants even more? Everton are amazing when it comes to community and charity work, among the best. But the £250,000 could have gone to such better causes https://t.co/d1QznDTYPx

We should have given the money to youth football or a cause like the Sean Cox Fund. Am really disappointed….
