Loads of Everton supporters have been reacting on social media to a report by Sport, which suggested Andre Gomes has agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur ahead of a summer move.
The Catalan-based outlet had reported earlier in the week that they expected Everton to make an offer to Barcelona for the Portuguese midfielder, said to be in the region of €25m and €30million (£21.5m and £25.9m).
Now, though, they are suggesting that Gomes’ representatives – the Wasserman Media Group – met with Spurs executives during the week, where the North London outfit supposedly finalised the terms of the midfielder’s contract.
It is not said how much the 25-year-old would earn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but the 29-cap international’s time with us has been on a £111,538-a-week contract, according to Spotrac.
An official offer from Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is yet to be sent to Barcelona, but it is expected that he will lodge a €30million bid once the Premier League season comes to an end, and they have secured their place in next season’s Champions League – Tottenham need one point to avoid relying on goal difference.
Levy’s interest in Gomes is not new, as the Telegraph had suggested at the start of April that the 57-year-old was willing to sanction a £30million offer to try and snatch the midfielder from under our nose.
Now that Sport are reporting that a deal is in place, it appears he may get his way, even if we are keen to sign Gomes permanently.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Tottenham’s speculated meeting with Gomes’ representatives…
I imagine it’s rubbish, I’d imagine we agreed everything with him and Barca already

We will out bid Spurs and pay better wage than them, they are notoriously tight when it comes to player wages.
