‘Decent touches but has looked poor’ – These Everton fans judge future star’s international game

Some Everton supporters have been sharing their thoughts on Antonee Robinson, after the Toffees academy graduate represented the USA in a pre-Gold Cup friendly.

Robinson’s 80-minute outing against Jamaica on Wednesday night was the 21-year-old’s seventh appearance for the United States men’s national soccer team, having last featured on the senior international stage in October.

It would not turn out to be an impressive display for the Milton Keynes-born left-back, though. But some of that can be put down to USMNT boss Gregg Berhalter deploying our man on the left of his four-man midfield – a position he has rarely played on Merseyside.

In fact, it was a generally disappointing display from most of the 17 men Berhalter called on in his final test ahead of the Gold Cup, which kicks off for the USMNT on June 18 against Guyana, before ties with Trinidad & Tobago and Panama.

Robinson, meanwhile, should be hoping for a solid campaign to best position himself ahead of the summer transfer window, as a loan away from Goodison Park may be on the cards if Leighton Baines signs the rumoured one-year deal that has been offered to him.

During the recent campaign, the 6ft defender made 26 appearances in the Championship while on loan with Wigan Athletic and assisted one goal.

Here’s how these Everton fans judged his international display…
