Crystal Palace are chasing Everton man on loan, but it’s not who you think – report

|

Crystal Palace are expected to make a move to take Everton midfielder James McCarthy on loan for the remainder of the season, having already been linked with Yannick Bolasie.

The rumours surrounding a potential bid by the Eagles to re-sign Bolasie came about almost immediately once the winger returned to Finch Farm having cut short his own loan deal at Aston Villa.

Even Marco Silva telling the DR Congo international that he would not be a part of his plans at Goodison Park did not stop him, but a return to his former club may not be on the cards after all, as the Daily Mail are reporting that Roy Hodgson has his eye’s on McCarthy.

The 28-year-old has only featured for the U23 side so far this season, as he continues to recover from the horrific tibia and fibula fracture he suffered over a year ago following a challenge by Solomon Rondon.

McCarthy is believed to be fit again now, though, and is eager to get back playing regularly.

Palace’s efforts to sign the former Republic of Ireland international will be centered around a loan deal, as Hodgson is keen on improving the spine of his side at Selhurst Park.
