This season could prove to be a pivotal one for Everton.

A good start to the Premier League season has given Everton a platform to really show just how good this team assembled by David Moyes really is.

In previous years good ends to the season have shown how good we could be, but this season we have proved it consistently.

But could we prove to be victims of our own success? Marouane Fellaini of course has one eye on getting into the Champions League and David Moyes is being linked to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City and now Leighton Baines is apparently getting itchy feet.

The left back, the best in the Premier League has been a long term target for Manchester United, but he’s never appeared to be interested in moving on from Goodison Park and while various media reports have said Sir Alex Ferguson would make £10million, £15million even £20million bids but nothing has ever materialised.

But now some internet reports are suggesting that if we do fail to qualify for the Champions League this season he could well want to make the move and challenge himself at that level.

So while it’s excellent to have a season like this, almost a coming of age for this squad, it could be coming to an end if it fails to achieve what it could.

If we were to lose Fellaini, we’d struggle but survive, if we’d lose Baines to then that would be a significant blow.

If we were to lose Moyes then that’s clearly an end to an era and who knows what the future will bring.
