Some Everton supporters have been begging Kurt Zouma to secure his Goodison Park return, after the £18million-rated defender scored his first international goal for France on Tuesday.
The Chelsea-owned centre-back had not featured for Les Blues since 2015 before joining the Toffees on loan for the 2018/19 season, but has since earned a further three caps for his country under Didier Deschamps.
Tuesday night’s European Qualifier away to Andorra was his first start on the international stage, however, and he returned Deschamps trust with his side’s fourth goal to secure the points in the 60th minute.
France now top Group H from Turkey and Gylfi Sigurdsson’s Iceland on goal difference, with the three countries locked on nine points after four games.
Zouma scoring his first international goal, though, only served to remind some Everton supporters of what we are set to miss out on, with it looking increasingly likely that he will be a Chelsea first-team player next season.
Marco Silva is still keen to add the 6 ft 2 defender to our ranks permanently, but the Stamford Bridge side’s transfer ban seems to have stopped our efforts, as the 24-year-old, along with Michy Batshuayi, Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, are expected to be considered for places next season.
Here’s what some Everton fans have Tweeted Zouma following France’s European Qualifier win…
Well in Kurt! Don’t forget, @Everton loves you! ???????????????? #Stay
