Everton announced on their official Twitter account that their former shot-stopper will become the club’s new international ambassador just days after Howard played his final ever professional game following a 3-1 defeat to MLS Supporter Shield winners LAFC.
With Howard playing for Everton for well over 10 years and being one of the few goalkeepers in Premier League history to score a goal, the former US international was praised to no-end by supporters on social media for his return to the club for taking up the role as an international ambassador.
Here’s what some Everton fans had to say on Twitter about the return of Howard to the Merseyside club…

Some fans, though, wanted to see Howard make more of an immediate impact with the club following their recent run of form…
Give him back his number 24 and throw him between the sticks.

Are they both still able to play?

Please give him a decent manager to endorse to the North American fans as the one we do have is an embarrassment.

Everton fans will be hoping the homecoming signing of Howard will spur the first-team squad on to pick up wins following the international break, with the Toffees currently sitting in 18th place in the Premier League table.
