Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford signed a new deal earlier this week to commit himself to another six years serving our club at least.
The stopper shone last season and then kicked on a gear over the summer as he starred at the World Cup.
England’s number 1, he pulled off a string of fine saves on the way to the semi-finals and it was clear that he was one of the Three Lions’ best players at the tournament.
Over the summer, then, rumours were rife about the club losing him to Chelsea but he has revealed that they were never in his mind.
As per Football 365 he said:
“I think you see it all over (the media). I don’t let it affect my performances. I just knuckled down. I knew I had a contract with Everton and didn’t at any time think anything else.
“You’ve just got to keep performing and put that to the back of your mind. You just don’t let it affect you – even if you see speculation.”
Clearly, despite being a young player his head is right where you want it to be and he is clearly a proper professional.
He’s signed a new deal with us and now hopefully we can build a defence for years to come in front of him.
