According to reports, Everton admire West Bromwich Albion’s Carlos Corberan, and consider the Spanish coach a potential replacement for the departing Frank Lampard.

Everton are once again on the hunt for a new manager following Lampard’s sacking on Monday evening, and have been linked with a long list of potential candidates, ranging from an ambitious approach for former Spurs and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino, to a return of the unpopular Sam Allardyce.

Former players Wayne Rooney and Lee Carsley have seen their names linked to the vacant position, as well former first team coach and occasional interim manager Duncan Ferguson.

Indeed, there a countless names who have been rumoured to take over, and the bookies must be having a field day listing the odds for potential candidates – sadly an almost yearly occurrence these days.

Former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa was reportedly the favourite to succeed Lampard, but has since distanced himself, alongside Brentford’s Thomas Frank.

However, the Blues may well look to another former Leeds employee, who worked with Bielsa at Elland Road and is establishing himself as a prodigious young coach.

Carlos Corberan has an eclectic managerial CV, debuting in the Cypriot First Division before taking up a role at Leeds United academy.

Promoted to first team coach by Bielsa in 2018, Corberan worked closely with the Argentinian manager, before taking over at Huddersfield Town in 2020.

After taking the Terriers to the play-off final, a brief stint in the Olympiacos dugout in 2022 followed, before the 39-year-old took charge at the Hawthorns in October of last year, taking over when Albion were second from bottom in the Championship.

Winning 8 out of the next 10 games, West Brom now sit in 10th place and could challenge for a place in the play-offs should they continue in their current form.

He would be a very risky appointment given his inexperience, but Corberan’s name has strongly been linked with the Everton job.
