Everton are interested in making a move to sign AS Roma forward Cengiz Under, according to Turkish Football.

The Toffees have not been put off by the 22-year-old’s struggles with injuries this season, which have resigned Under to just eight starts in all competitions.

A biceps femoris muscle injury kept the 20-cap Turkey international on the sidelines for seven Serie A fixtures earlier in the campaign, though the former Istanbul Basaksehir FK star has started Roma’s last two league games alongside their Coppa Italia Round of 16 and Quarter-Final ties in 2020.

Under registered his second goal of the term on January 19 in a 3-1 win over Genoa CFC, too, ending a drought that had stretched from the opening game of the season against Il Grifone, when he netted the opening effort in a 3-3 draw.

The 5 ft 8 winger is yet to assist a goal in any competition this season, but is valued at £34million by Roma, who are loathe to losing him midway through the campaign.

Under does not intend to leave the Giallorossi part-way through the term, either, though would favour a move to the Premier League if he is to depart the Stadio Olimpico.

Everton are said to be willing to wait until the summer before making our move to land Under’s signature, which will leave boss Carlo Ancelotti and Director of Football Marcel Brands plenty of time to assess the attacker’s suitability for the Premier League.

Bar his two-and-a-half-years with Roma, Under’s career has exclusively been played in his native Turkey, having joined Basaksehir from academy side Altinordu FK.

The Balikesir-born forward amassed 101 senior outings with Altinordu and Basaksehir before his move to the Italian capital, where he has made 81 appearances in all competitions and been involved in 27 goals (16 scored, 11 assists).

His best Serie A season in front of the net came in his debut season at the Stadio Olimpico with seven goals in 26 games, while his best European campaign came in 2018/19 as he hit three in six Champions League matches.

Genoa and Turkish outfits Besiktas and Denizl are Under’s best opponents to face with three goals struck against each side, while also scoring twice against Fenerbahce and once against Napoli and Inter Milan.

In other Everton news, the club are reportedly chasing a top Premier League side for the signature of a £34m player.
