Swarms of Everton fans have been imploring with Director of Football Marcel Brands to sign want-away Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan is out of contract in the French capital this summer, but PSG Sporting Director Leonardo has revealed that Cavani has handed in a formal transfer request in a bid to leave the Parc de Princes this month.

Cavani has been plagued with injuries this season so has seen his place in Thomas Tuchel’s plans diminish, to the point the 32-year-old has played just 330 minutes of football in Ligue 1 and has only started four fixtures thus far.

Salto-born Cavani missed PSG’s 4-1 win over AS Monaco on January 15 as a result of a groin injury, having only returned to action three days before after sustaining calf and muscle issues prior to the French winter break.

He also missed two games in August through a hip injury, and would only return to fitness in late October.

Despite missing so many games, and last finding the back of the net in the French top-flight on August 18, Cavani is a highly in-demand forward this month with vivid interest in Spain and England.

As well as confirming that Cavani has handed in a transfer request, Leonardo confirmed that he has rejected an offer from La Liga giant Atletico Madrid as the bid did not meet his valuation of the 112-cap international.

It has previously been suggested that Atleti offered €10million (£8.5m) for Cavani, and were willing to pay the experienced forward €12m a year (£196,242-per-week) to lure him to Spain.

Atleti are not alone in courting Cavani this month as Manchester United have also been linked with a move, though face paying as much as £25m to seal a deal.

Chelsea have also been credited with an interest, after it was claimed that Blues Academy Technical Mentor Claude Makelele had discussed a move for Cavani with PSG after Frank Lampard publicly stated his admiration of the striker.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been offered the chance to sign Cavani after losing Harry Kane through injury, which will keep the England captain out of action until April.

Here are some of the messages shared from Everton fans keen to see Brands pay the £25m needed to land Cavani this month…

In other Everton news, the club have turned down multiple offers for a £14m Toffees mainstay this month.
