Everton’s three-game winning streak was brought to a close on Sunday as Manchester United secured a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

It was an afternoon to forget for the Toffees after Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial struck to sink Marco Silva’s side but, despite the goal coming from a Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty, there were positives to take from the performance.

Barcelona loanee Andre Gomes impressed with his performance in the heart of midfield, providing encouragement for the upcoming months as he continued his recovery from injury by making his second Premier League appearance.

The 25-year-old made his debut in the victory over Crystal Palace last weekend and played the full 90 minutes of Everton’s defeat at Old Trafford for the first time this season.

With Everton crying out for more creativity from midfield to present chances to their forwards, Gomes’ form can provide inspiration for the coming weeks and fans were quick to praise the player on social media.
