“Broken at the Moment” – ex-Everton Boss says of the Club

|

Ex-Everton boss David Moyes has expressed his disappointment at the sacking of Frank Lampard, insisting that the club is “broken at the moment”.

The Scottish coach, who spent 11 years at Goodison Park between 2002 and 2013, earned his West Ham United side a valuable 3 points at the expense of Everton last weekend, in what proved to be Lampard’s final game in charge of the club.

Indeed, a 2-0 defeat at the London Stadium prompted Everton to dismiss Lampard following a run of form that sees the Blues in 19th place in the Premier League. Former Burnley Boss Sean Dyche looks set to succeed Lampard in the Goodison hotseat, and when asked for his thoughts on the appointment, Moyes remained candid.

The ex-Everton boss remarked,It’s not for me to talk about either [Dyche and Everton] because I know them both very well.

Dychey is a really good lad and did a brilliant job at Burnley. You look at his record, he had a great time with how he worked with them.”

Moyes himself has been under pressure at the Hammers after a disappointing first half to the 2022/23 campaign, and was once again linked with a return to Merseyside.

However, the 59-year-old’s job looks to be safe for now, though the former Everton manager expressed his disappointment and the club’s current state.

Moyes continued, “If you’re asking me about Everton, it is a brilliant club and I’m disappointed to see it broken at the moment – but it will come back together.

“They are moving into a new stadium, so they will want to be in the Premier League and want to show everybody what they are. It is a great club.”

Moyes’ West Ham side currently sit in 16th in the league table, just 3 points ahead of 19th-placed Everton.
