Following on from the weekend’s defeat for Everton at the hands of West Ham United, reactions on social media have certainly been interesting to follow.

No one will need reminding about the incredibly poor performance the side put in at Goodison Park on Sunday as we went down 3-1 on the day to pick up our first defeat of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign so far, and the most galling thing really was we were favourites heading into the match given the oppositions poor form this year as they were on the back of four straight losses.

A number of individual errors across the 90 minutes saw us pay the ultimate price and manager Marco Silva was saying the right things at the full-time whistle.

For a number of fans though, issues in our performances from previous games this year came back to haunt us and the problem is we don’t appear to be learning from our mistakes yet – especially on a defensive front.

The challenge is certainly there for the players to prove it was a bad day and show they have learned in the next one but whilst it’s clear there’s some overreaction in the comments, with the draws were taken so far it’s understandable as to why some think we just pushed our luck a bit too far and it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Could be an important week on the training ground as Silva’s honeymoon period is surely over now.
