‘Brilliant’ – some fans praise Everton defender after Saturday’s win over Southampton

|

Everton enjoyed a 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday and Djibril Sidibe was one of many players to come away with praise from supporters. The 27-year-old has impressed at right-back since replacing Seamus Coleman and could be turning his loan move permanent next summer as things stand.

Sidibe had to be patient for opportunities at the start of the season, but Coleman’s suspension gave the French international a chance to impress and he’s taken it with both hands. Everton have only lost one game that Sidibe has started in, compared to the five defeats in eight matches without him.

Against Southampton, the defender on loan from AS Monaco played a full 90 minutes, made 55 touches, won one aerial duel, created one chance, had one shot, completed 88.5% of his 26 passes, made one clearance, whipped in one cross, made seven tackles, drew three fouls, made one interception and made one assist.

Should Everton sign Djibril Sidibe permanently?

Yes

No

Sidibe has made seven appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating two goals. He boasts a 57% win ratio and has conceded only four goals in his four Premier League starts. The 27-year-old is keeping Coleman out of the side on merit and looks unlikely to relinquish his place as things stand.
