The English transfer window may be shut, but the Chinese Super League remains a possible destination for some, and Everton have just sold Tyias Browning to Guangzhou Evergrande for an undisclosed fee.
The Toffees announced the transfer had gone through in a short post to the club’s official Twitter feed, wishing the 24-year-old good luck at his new side.
It marks the end to a near 15 year adventure for the defender, as Browning joined our youth ranks all the way back in 2004 and has worked his way through the grades ever since.
This season, however, did show that his progress toward the first-team was stunted by a year in the Championship with Sunderland that led to the Black Cats relegation, as he has only featured for the Under 23s this term, making 17 outings in all competitions.
While the club did not confirm how much we netted from the centre-back’s departure, the Daily Mail have reported that we banked somewhere in the region of £4million for the member of our 2016/17 U21s Premier League title-winning side.
The former England youth international’s exit from Merseyside, for likely the last time, earned these responses on Twitter…
1 year contract, set for life.
