With Kieran Dowell standing out for many fans in Everton’s recent friendly against ATV Irdning out in Austria, Dowell took the early credit for his assists, but Ademola Lookman was quickly making waves of his own as he helped himself to a hattrick on the day.
With plenty of speculation linking him with a return to Red Bull Leipzig following his loan spell out with them last season, his performance on Saturday for many fans showed exactly why we must keep him at Goodison Park this coming year and nurture the clear talent he has.
Fair enough, it wasn’t high-quality opposition, but you can only beat what’s in front of you even if it’s pre-season and it’s about building fitness for the Premier League campaign ahead in 2018/19. His goals and overall performance though showed exactly why Everton signed him from Charlton Athletic.
The reactions on social media to his showing aren’t in isolation about the game itself, it was more what that game could imply for his future given the talent he has that we’ve already seen in flashes.
