It turned into a busy old weekend for Everton fans with news breaking of a potential £50million deal with Watford for Brazilian attacker Richarlison.

With plenty of thoughts being sparked by this development – the fee itself, what this means for the relationship and angst between both clubs given our previous chase of Marco Silva whilst he was in post at Vicarage Road and the fall out from that over potential compensation claims. There was also the issue of whether or not Richarlison himself was worthy of a fee that high given his age, relative lack of experience with only one year under his belt in the Premier League and known consistency issues with his performances.

It’s a safe bet to say that whilst plenty were excited about the fact the deal could come off given the talent the player has, plenty of others were less than enamoured with a deal being done at that price.

If true, it means Farhad Moshiri is certainly backing his manager given how quiet the summer has been so far, but with how quiet it has been a number think this deal could be a distraction to try and paper over some cracks.
