Moise Kean had an uncertain future at Everton after struggling for form and playing time in his debut season at Goodison Park, having disciplinary problems and breaching Government rules amid the Covid-19 pandemic, but Carlo Ancelotti is expected to start the new season with the 20-year-old in his squad.

Tuttosport have conjured up a bizarre transfer rumour, however, suggesting that Juventus want to bring Kean back to Turin so they can use him in their reserve team next season. Tuttosport say Juve might consider loaning Kean in 2020/21, but the reality is that the Old Lady are wasting their time trying to lure him back to Italy.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Why did Juve sell Kean if they want him back?

As per BBC Sport, Juve’s decision to sell Kean didn’t go down too well among the fanbase. At the time of his departure, he’d scored eight goals in 21 appearances, averaging a goal every 85 minutes.

The move gained traction due to Marcel Brands and Bill Kenwright having a good relationship with Kean’s Mino Raiola. Maurizio Sarri replacing Massimiliano Allegri had a big impact too – the latter was a mentor to Kean and the former had Gonzalo Higuain returning from loan spells away.

This led to Kean falling behind Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic in the pecking order, pushing through a move away from Juve.

Everton are going to let Kean leave

There’s no denying Kean has a lot to prove after a bad debut campaign, but he’s only one year into a five-year deal so we aren’t going to make rash decisions so soon.

The 20-year-old has only scored two goals in 33 games, been reduced to substitute appearances, missed multiple team meetings and was guilty of breaching Government lockdown rules earlier this summer, but Ancelotti has been public in his support of Kean.

And letting him go would require us to sign a replacement, when we’re already on the hunt for a striker.

Summary

There’s a belief among many at the club that Kean will improve upon last season. He’s still only young and will hopefully learn from his mistakes to vindicate our decision to sign him.
