A short time ago this afternoon Everton confirmed the arrival of Chelsea centre-half Kurt Zouma.

The 23-year-old Frenchman was a big topic late last night as speculation suggested we had been given an extension on deadline day to get his move over the line, and it’s a guess on my part, but that may have failed ahead of the deadline – however with the daft difference between the permanent and loan regulations this year, there was never any rush yesterday anyway when it came to him.

He heads in for the 2018/19 campaign and there is no talk of a potential buy clause. He joins Bernard, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, Lucas Digne, Richarlison and Joao Virginia as manager Marco Silva’s summer additions to the squad and we have handed the Number 5 shirt for the season ahead.

How many of them make their debuts this weekend as we open the Premier League campaign against newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux is open for debate, but we’re bound to see one or two you would think.

Good pedigree, highly rated and some good words from Stoke City fans despite their own relegation last year when it comes to his performances, so hopefully he hits the ground running from the get-go.
