“Best news of the day” – Lots of Everton fans react to club post

|

Lots of Everton fans have been reacting on social media after the club shared that Moise Kean had scored twice for Italy’s Under 21s as they beat Armenia 6-0 on Tuesday night.

The match was pushed back two-and-a-half hours due to adverse weather conditions in the Sicilian city of Catania, but eventually saw the young Italians dominate their opposition on a night they attempted 26 shots on goal.

Kean scored his first of the game in the 15th minute, with the 19-year-old drilling the ball home through the legs of Sevak Aslanyan. He would secure his brace later on in the first half as the interval approached, by tapping home the rebound of Patrick Cutrone’s effort following a string of quick passes by the Azzurrini.

Italy U21 boss Paolo Nicolato singled out Kean for praise following the game, after being impressed by the youngster’s spirit.

“I liked Kean’s spirit,” Nicolato told Rai Sport, via Football Italia. “I said it already before the game that he’s perfect with me. Our midfield is what makes us play well.

“The players are playing well, with desire, even those with less experience, but everything’s still open in [the] group. There’s still a long way to go.”

Kean is yet to score for the Toffees since his £27.5million move from Juventus in the summer, and has been restricted to two starts in the Premier League thus far.

The three-time senior Italy international has not featured in the top-flight since playing the final four minutes of our 2-0 win over West Ham United last month, either, and was omitted from the matchday squad against Southampton after breaching club rules.
