There’s no shortage of praise coming Wayne Rooney’s way with the impact the Everton forward is already having, as he continually will, being shared by many already.

Another can be added to the list? When Rooney made his first debut in 2002 Dominic Calvert-Lewin was a mere five year old, which makes it surreal for the forward to now view the former England captain as his teammate.

However, Calvert-Lewin is left in little doubt he’ll learn plenty from Rooney, telling the Official Website there couldn’t be anyone better to gain knowledge from.

‘I suppose it’s a little bit surreal but he’s my team-mate now and I’ve got to view him as a team-mate. He’s a great person to learn off, if you look at what he’s achieved in his career so far. For a young striker like me it’s going to be good to learn from him and just try to pick up little bits.’

Adding: ‘After all the goals he’s scored and what he’s achieved, it’s going to be good to have someone like that around… I don’t think there’s anyone better, really. I haven’t had the opportunity to play with him on the pitch yet, but when I do I will be looking to link with him and try to learn as much as I can.’

He went on to say Rooney has already spent a fair amount of time with him and fellow Blues and England U20 World Cup winner Ademola Lookman giving both ‘little pointers’ to benefit their games, which obviously will be positive for Everton too.

Calvert-Lewin made a positive impact at Goodison Park last season and he’s looking to add to the 11 Premier League outings, resulting one goal, in a campaign the forward is sure can bring plenty of opportunities, both alongside Rooney and others, given the amount of games the Toffees should place.

‘There’s going to be a lot more opportunities to play, with the Europa League and the other cup competitions, so I’m just looking to impress as much as I can. I want to be a big part in the Everton team. I’m just looking to do the best I can and, hopefully, that will be enough to play more games in the Premier League and in the cups. I want to get as many games under my belt and score as many goals as I can,’ concluded the forward.
