Having offloaded one Belgian forward after Romelu Lukaku completed his transfer to Manchester United could Everton replace him with another, Christian Benteke?

Benteke is familiar with Merseyside having spent a failed spell across Stanley Park at Anfield.

The Crystal Palace forward, who left Liverpool for Palace last summer, disappointed at Anfield, admittedly he didn’t get much of a chance to prove himself, but having shown what he could do at Aston Villa there are certainly worse options out there than Benteke.

However, the Express, which cited the Daily Mail as the source of this rumour, has said Chelsea also ‘remain keen’ on Benteke, 26, but Crystal Palace wouldn’t sell unless a ‘head-spinning offer’ was made.

An unexpected link and one we’ll have to watch to see what actually does happen, if anything?

The Express did again mention the name of Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud. He remains a target of Ronald Koeman’s and an offer of £20m could tempt the Gunners into selling the French international, 30, after signing his compatriot Alexandre Lacazette.
