Ronald Koeman has revealed Ross Barkley could yet have a future at Everton.

Well, the midfielder could yet be ‘part of the team’ if there aren’t any offers before the transfer window closes.

The boss had previously said Barkley, 23, wouldn’t play for Everton again if he didn’t sign a new contract, which he turned down, most recently he ‘100% expected’ him to leave the Blues.

However, ahead of the Premier League opener against Stoke on Saturday Koeman’s addressed the media to reveal the England international could have at future at Goodison Park.

Koeman was quoted by the BBC: ‘If there’s no interest he will be part of team.’

Obviously if there aren’t any offers Barkley will stay at Everton, should that remain the case – ready to sign a new contract or not – it makes sense to involve him as why wouldn’t a player of his ability have a part to play?

Meanwhile, Swansea’s boss Paul Clement has confirmed no deal has been agreed with Everton but Gylfi Sigurdsson isn’t in Swansea’s squad to face Southampton.

Clement was quoted by Sky Sports: ‘No deal been has been done with any club. Talks are ongoing and I’m speaking to our chairman and owners every day for an update but there isn’t a current conclusion to it at the moment. What’s going on is not abnormal; you get a lot of situations like this. The situation is our club has a valuation of the player, the other club has another valuation of the player and the two have not met. The objective is that at some point the clubs will meet (in valuation).’

Adding: ‘At the moment no (he will not play this Saturday). I think it’s in the best interest with everyone involved that’s not the case, and in my plans that’s the situation that Gylfi will not be involved in the squad this weekend. We’ve got a number of weeks to go and I don’t anticipate it going to the end of the window. Of course I would like the situation resolved as soon as possible, I’ve said that quite clearly.’
