Homegrown Everton midfielder Tom Davies obviously splits opinion amongst the Goodison faithful and debates about his talent, contribution and future potential are almost a weekly thing now.

Having headed into the club back in 2009 from Tranmere Rovers, the 20-year-old exploded onto the scene in many ways as he made his breakthrough but a number of fans believe he stalled under former manager Sam Allardyce last season and they don’t believe he’s kicked on this year despite being a regular under new gaffer Marco Silva and even taking the armband in recent matches.

With 50 starting appearances to his name now with an additional 25 showings from the bench, those games have returned four goals and as above, Silva seems to rate him even though a good number of fans felt he would be better served by dropping to the Championship (at least for half a season) and getting himself back to his early best without the criticism he will naturally take now from those who have made their minds up.

As the above demonstrates, a good number on social media continue to back his development and they believe he’ll come good again in time – more so, that he’s not as bad as some have made out this year.
