Young Everton striker Fraser Hornby has been ruled out of action until 2019 after undergoing surgery on a damaged ankle ligament.

The 19-year-old youngster confirmed the news himself on social media over the weekend and it’s expected that he will now be out for the next two months as a minimum, but should he be unlucky enough to suffer any complications, his spell on the sidelines could be slightly longer.

If there is a positive to this, getting the surgery out of the way and ensuring that he rehabilitates fully will at least draw a line under the issue for him and our young striker can then focus on building his fitness back up and getting himself back on track and he looks to forge his way in the professional game.

Highly rated and having impressed plenty with his efforts in our youth setup at the club, once fit again it should only be a matter of time before manager Marco Silva gives him a small shot at first-team level to bring on his development further.

Having made his senior debut in the Europa League tie against Apollon Limassol last December, there are a number of fans waiting for him to get his next shot.
