Report: Ancelotti aiming to cross swords with former side to sign 28y/o

|

According to AS – via Sport Witness – Everton are interested in 28-year-old Atletico Madrid player Santiago Arias as they plan ahead for the summer transfer window.

The break in the football season has caused fans up and down the country to try and find other ways to entertain and distract themselves and, for Blues fans, plenty of reading has been offered up in terms of potential transfer arrivals.

According to this report, the Blues are looking at Arias with him playing infrequently for Diego Simeone’s men this season over in Spain, with the Colombian only featuring 11 times in all competitions.

That could spark Everton into looking to try and sign the full-back, then, with extra cover at right-back potentially needed but the Blues are not, apparently, alone in holding an interest in signing him.

According to the report, Carlo Ancelotti will have to battle one of his former sides to try and sign the player from Spain.

Napoli are also thought to be keen on the player as they look to add to their side and so the Toffees’ Italian manager needs to be prepared to try and get one over on his most recent former employer.

The Blues have got plenty of financial clout to try and get this one done, though, and so the hope will be that they can beat the Naples side to the signing if they feel as though he could add something to the team.
