Everton picked up a much needed victory over Cardiff City in last night’s Premier League action in Wales.

With poor form and poorer results since before Christmas, pressure was certainly building on manager Marco Silva and even though many fans will feel that we should’ve naturally taken three points from struggling Cardiff, we knew we’d have to match them when it came to the ugly side of the game before our quality could come through and in taking a 3-0 win, we did that.

Goals on the evening came from a Gylfi Sigurdsson brace and a late Dominic Calvert-Lewin effort.

In scoring the brace on the day, statistics website Whoscored comfortably gave our Icelandic international their star man award and a score of 8.66.

Completing the top five best performers in a much improved showing were Lucas Digne (8.44), Idrissa Gueye (8.39), Calvert-Lewin (8.17) and Seamus Coleman (7.90).

Special mentions for Morgan Schneiderlin, Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka who also received seven-plus scores.
