£18m-rated man desired elsewhere but deal will struggle to please Everton – report

Cenk Tosun might not be adored on Merseyside, but the striker is sought-after back in his homeland, as Turkiye have reported interest from Fenerbahce.

It is claimed the Yellow Canaries have already started on their transfer plans for the summer, and the £18million-rated attacker is on their agenda.

Turkiye even add that intermediaries working for the Super Lig outfit have reached out to the Toffees, in the hopes of securing Tosun on a loan-to-buy with a view to purchasing the 37-cap international in 2020.

Loan-to-buy deals are hardly out of the ordinary for Turkish sides, but Marcel Brands and Marco Silva should view it with caution, as there are no guarantees the interested party will trigger the clause.

Fenerbahce’s reported interest, in its own right, should be viewed with caution, as Turkiye note the previous links between Tosun and a return to Besiktas, and ponder how the Black Eagles will react to their rivals emergence on the scene.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has been quoted by Aksam stating his admiration for our 27-year-old disaster before, along with claims Besiktas could offer us Domagoj Vida in a swap deal due to the financial limits they face.

The 29-year-old centre-back is understood to be of interest to us, but if the player exchange did not appeal to us, they would only be able to make a loan approach of their own for Tosun.

A loan move for the fringe attacker by either Fenerbahce or Besiktas, though, would be sure to go down like a led balloon on Merseyside, as we would not be able to reinvest a transfer fee into new signings.

Should he then return after a poor year in Turkey, trying to sell Tosun would prove even trickier, and likely force Brands to accept a lower-than-desired offer.
