Without question, we enjoyed a very productive transfer window, and the arrival of Marco Silva has evoked a feel-good atmosphere among the supporters. One of our summer recruits, Andre Gomes, has the potential to become a critical player this season.

Transfer windows are often perceived as daunting times for clubs, especially when you support a team that has a history of losing its best players. Nonetheless, to the club’s credit, they’ve conducted astute business in the transfer market, and we’re in an ideal position to compete this season. We’ve attained four points from a possible six, and some of our recruits have yet to feature, such as Andre Gomes – who is valued at £13.5M by transfermarkt.

During his time with Valencia, the Portuguese midfielder had established his status as one of the most promising and enterprising talents in La Liga. Accordingly, a move to Barcelona followed, and while Gomes failed to earn a continuous position in the Barca team, he is still exceedingly talented.

In his early weeks as an Everton player, the primary challenge will be to revive his confidence, if he succeeds in recovering his self-belief, then Marco Silva has signed a tremendous player. As is the norm for players who have represented Barcelona, Andre Gomes flaunts excellent passing ability, and due to his height, he is able to compete for the ball in the air.

While he may not be the most prolific goalscorer, he is capable of finding the back of the net, and his ability to link-up play and create meaningful goal-scoring opportunities is also a valuable asset. Most certainly, he has the potential to make his mark in the Premier League, and become a crucial player for us this season. From a technical perspective, he’s very accomplished, let’s hope he can emulate the excellence he produced during his Valencia days.
