Everton have been linked with a move for Jesse Lingard and Alex Bruce told the Football Insider earlier this month that the 27-year-old would be a good signing for the Toffees. His asking price, likely salary demands and form at Manchester United suggest otherwise, however, so Everton should turn their attentions elsewhere.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Lingard has made 202 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, scoring 31 goals and making 20 assists, but his form has wavered in recent seasons. The England international hasn’t scored a Premier League goal since December 2018 and hasn’t registered a Premier League assist since January 2019.

In 20 league games this season, Lingard has been lost the ball through an unsupported touch or dispossession 35 times, has a 56% dribble success rate, hits the target with 25% of his shots, has whipped in six crosses without finding a teammate, has given away 27 fouls, has been dribbled past 11 times and has won just two aerial duels, as per WhoScored.

Lingard earns £110k-per-week/£5.72m-a-year at United and has an asking price of £30m. He’s not worth the money based on his numbers in the last two seasons, so Everton shouldn’t look to sign him. The Toffees have been linked with Cengiz Under, Everton Soares and Wilfried Zaha, all of whom are better options than Lingard.

Vital Everton have also cited Nabil Fekir as a potential option to replace Theo Walcott next season, but it remains to be seen who will come in to bolster the attack.
